SECTION 3. HEALTH INFORMATION
| The health effects noted
below are consistent with requirements under OSHA hazard communication
standard ( 29CFR 1810.1200 ). |
| EYE CONTACT: |
Molten wax fumes may be slightly
irritating to eyes. Dust particles. may cause slight irritation. |
| SKIN CONTACT: |
Not a primary irritant. Molten
wax will cause burns upon contact |
| INHALATION: |
Molten wax fumes may cause
mild respiratory irritation. Powder may cause minor nuisance irritation. |
| INGESTION: |
No known effects. Products
have low toxicity (acute oral > 2500 mgms / kg). |
| SIGNS AND SYMPTOMS: |
Mild irritation as noted
above. |
SECTION 4. OCCUPATIONAL
EXPOSURE LIMITS
Exposure limit for total product (
threshold limit value )
5 mgms / m3 ( respirable
dust )
10 mgms / m3 ( total dust
)
( OSHA regulation 29CFR 1910.1000
recommended by ACGIH)
SECTION 5. EMERGENCY AND
FIRST AID PROCEDURES
| EYES: |
If hot product splashed into
eyes flush immediately with clear cold water. Contact physician immediately. |
| SKIN: |
If burned by hot product
obtain medical attention immediately. In the event of skin contact with
product under other conditions wash thoroughly with soap and water.
Removal of product from skin may be
aided by use of waterless hand cleaner. |
| INHALATION: |
If overcome by fumes immediately
remove from exposure and call a physician. If breathing irregular or has
stopped start resuscitation. Administer oxygen if available. |
| INGESTION: |
Products are not acutely
toxic and in any case ingestion is unlikely to occur. |
SECTION 6. SUPPLEMENTAL
HEALTH INFORMATION

SECTION 8. FIRE AND EXPLOSION
HAZARDS
| POWDER FORM OVERVIEW: |
Static charges on this product
form may ignite flammable atmospheres. High level of dust in the atmosphere
may present a dust explosion hazard. No significant health hazards from
exposure to powdered products |
FLASH POINT AND METHOD:
AUTO IGNITION TEMPERATURE:
FLAMMABLE LIMITS ( Vol. % in air ): |
>450°F (ASTM D-92)
None known
Upper: Not applicable
Lower: Not applicable |
| EXTINGUISHING MEDIA: |
Use water, fog, foam, dry
chemical or CO2.Do not use a direct stream of water as product
will float and can be reignited on surface of water. |
| SPECIAL FIRE
FIGHTING PROCEDURES AND PRECAUTIONS: |
| Material will
not bum unless preheated. Do not enter confined fire space without full
bunker gear ( helmet with face shield, bunker coats, gloves and rubber
boots ), including a positive pressure NIOSH approved self contained breathing
apparatus. Cool fire exposed containers with water. |
SECTION 9. REACTIVITY
| STABILITY: |
Stable at normal ambient
temperatures. |
| HAZARDOUS POLYMERISATION: |
Will not occur. |
| CONDITIONS AND MATERIALS
TO AVOID: |
None identified. |
| HAZARDOUS DECOMPOSITION
PRODUCTS: |
| Thermal decomposition
products are highly dependent upon the combustion conditions. A complex
mixture of airborne solid, liquid particulates and gases will evolve when
this product undergoes pyrolysis or combustion. CO, CO2 and
unidentified organic compounds may be formed upon combustion. |
SECTION 10. EMPLOYEE PROTECTION
| VENTILATION: |
Use local exhaust to capture
vapor, mist, dust or fumes if necessary. Provide greater than 60 feet per
minute hood face velocity for confined space. Provide ventilation sufficient
to prevent exceeding recommended exposure limit or build up of explosive
concentrations of vapor in air. |
| REGULATORY PROTECTION: |
Normally not needed at ambient
temperatures. Protective chemically resistant gloves when handling molten
material to avoid skin contact |
| EYE PROTECTION: |
Use goggles or face shield
when eye contact from molten material splashes might occur, |
| RESPIRATORY PROTECTION: |
If dusty conditions arise
when using a powdered -product then a NIOSH approved dust respirator is
recommended. |
SECTION 11. ENVIRONMENTAL
PROTECTION
| SPILL / LEAK PROCEDURES: |
May burn although not readily
ignitable. Use cautious judgement when cleaning up large molten spills.
With small molten spills wear
respirator and protective clothing as appropriate. Shut off source of leak
if safe to do so. Dike and contain. Allow wax to coot and remove as solid. |
| WASTE DISPOSAL: |
Products are organic in nature
and not biodegradable. Dispose of product in an appropriate facility in
compliance with local state and federal regulations. |
SECTION 12. SPECIAL PRECAUTIONS
